AED Programmes: A Lifeline for Cardiac Arrest Victims in the UK and Ireland

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) programmes are significantly enhancing survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) across the UK and Ireland. [42] Community engagement and education are vital to ensure that when a cardiac arrest occurs, bystanders are not only aware of nearby AEDs but also confident in using them. [39, 41, 42]
